Thursday 25th September By Joshua
Awe is a war on a colossal scale,
I see millions of arrows blot out the sun and the sky,
I hear the clang of steel against steel,
shouting and screams of agony,
I smell dirt, gore and smoke,
I touch my cold steel armour and grip my spear with iron fingers,
I taste blood in my mouth,
And I feel smaller than an insect.
Rage is a spasm of dark evil in a mortal,
I see a red hue cover everything in my vision,
I hear the mighty beating of my heart and the grinding of my teeth,
I smell crackling fire and chocking smoke,
I touch the Devil’s sweet power,
I taste bitterness in my mouth,
And nothing will stop me.
Joy is a plain of golden daffodils,
I see nothing but beauty on this endless field,
I hear sweet birds tweeting softly at the sun high up in the sky,
I smell thousands of plants and pine trees in a humid forest,
I touch the tall grass, the tough bark of a tree,
I taste sweet milk and honey,
And I don’t want to be anywhere else.
Sorrow is an empty, broken heart,
I see nothing but broken souls and flooded streets,
I hear the begs of the poor and unlucky,
I smell acid and mould,
I touch burnt wood and chapped paint,
I taste dirt and poison,
And I can’t wait for a sunny day.
