Room 17

Welcome to Room 17, Term 2,2010

Our integrated topic this term is 'Footrot Flats' - A Kiwi Farm.

We will be learning about farm life, animals and the produce grown there.

We will be visiting Mt. Albert Grammar Farm to watch a cow being milked and sheep shearing. Great fun!!

We love Reading in Room 17. We read in our groups daily and this term, our Author Study focus is Margaret Mahy.Wonderful stories for the teacher to read, full of exciting words and imaginative situations.

We will be focusing on writing recounts and instructional writing this term.

Our Integrated Topic creates exciting possibilities for Writing, including made-up recipies for ice-cream and making enclosures for the farm animals.These will also be a Technology focus.

Maths this term is Numeracy, addition and subtraction, and using Mathletics to practise basic facts in a fun way.

There is an exciting Arts rotation planned for our syndicate which includes Music, Dance and Drama.

There are new sports for the children to participate in on Thursday afternoons, all involving big balls.

Big balls are the focus for our twice weekly Physical Education sessions.

We also have a weekly visit to the ICT Suite to learn new skills and to publish our wonderful work.

It will be a wonderful term for us all.
