Homework

Each week on Monday your child will be given the following homework activities:

1) Spelling - a list of 10-12 words to learn in preparation for a spelling test on Friday.  See below for Term One lists.

2) Basic Facts - stage appropriate maths basic facts to learn in preparation for a test on Friday
(these are not designed to be challenging, the aim is to learn the facts off by heart to enable instant recall in contextual applications)

3) Reading Log - in the back of the spelling notebook, children are to keep a record of all reading they do at home.  The minimum expectation is 10-15 minutes per night.  If due to sporting comittments or other activities this cannot be done every night, encourage your child to spend up to 20 minutes reading each weekend day.

From time to time other topic related homework may be given.  This will usually involve your child discussing some aspect of what we are learning with you, or finding information to bring in and share with the class.  Requirements for this will be explained to children at the time.
