Welcome to Room 15!

Term 4, 2011

'Stepping Out'

This term we are learning all about safety!  We are learning about how to keep safe when we are on and around roads.  All of Syndicate 4 are so lucky as we get to have Constable Julie and Constable Peter talk to us about road safety.  We will be learning about how to cross at the lights or at the pedestrian crossing; we will find out about sneaky driveways and how to look out for cars.  We will also be learning lots more about road safety so when we go for walks we will be able to inform our families all about road safety!  We are still working on improving our thinking through SOLO Taxonomy. Remember; if you're not sure of the different levels of SOLO Taxonomy you can ask us whether we are pre-structural, uni-structural, multi-structural, relational or abstract extended.

Miss Primrose has sent home lists of words which we need to be able to recognise straight away as well as spell by ourselves.  When we can do both of these things we get a tick next to the word.  Once we know all the words on our lists we can return them to our teacher and get another list to learn.

There are lots of wonderful websites that we can go on at school and at home.  If we want to have a look at the different websites we could work on, click on Room 15's web links. We can work on our basic facts, addition and subtraction on Mathletics.  We can work on word endings, word families, vowels and blends on Alphablocks (this can help us with both Reading and Writing).

Our library time is still on a Wednesday afternoon.  We all need to remember to return our library books in our bookbags on Wednesdays so that we can get another book to read at home.

Now that we're in Term 4 we need to make sure we are sun smart: we need apply sun block every day before school and we must bring our hats to school every day!  We need to have our names clearly written onto our hats so that if they are misplaced, they can be returned to us!
