We have made a great start to term 2. I hope you have all had a lovely holiday. Please see below our topics planned for term 2.
Guided Reading:
Students have been placed into reading groups and will carry out guided reading with me from Monday through to Thursday. During this time children will also carry out alphabet activities. On Friday our shared poem will be sent home. Please send the poem books back to school on Monday.

Maths:
This term we will spend the first 2 weeks looking at measurement. The next 5 weeks looking at number and algebra. The last 3 weeks will be spend on Geometry. Children are placed into maths groups according to ability and are moved around when needed.

PE:
This term we will focus on large ball skills during our PE sessions. Once a week we will also have syndicate sports for 45 minutes which will incorporate skills practised in PE sessions.

Topic - Keep ourselves safe
This term we will spend the first 2 weeks learning about keeping ourselves safe.

Homework

At year 1 the only homework that we require students to carry out is reading their reader every night and learning their high frequency words, which are sent home every night and tested during guided reading at school. Please help by practicing these words with your child.
